Why Mobile Inventory?

Inventory involves recording physical assets by counting, measuring, or weighing. This creates a basis for the economic evaluation of items and provides a data foundation that offers transparency about availability, utilization, and storage locations for process optimization or improved planning. Equipping all items with Auto-ID/RFID tags and conducting the inventory with mobile data collection devices can drastically simplify and secure the counting of items and their assignment to locations or actions.

Auto-ID-based mobile inventory offers numerous advantages:

  • Clear identification of items to be inventoried, preventing mix-ups and incorrect entries.
  • Accurate information about the position of items, providing inventory overview. Location bookings can be done via location tags, zone recognition, and GPS positions. The use of modern RTLS systems is also possible.
  • Documentation of the storage and retrieval of items in specific areas, for example, for cost center allocation or transfer of risk documentation.
  • Documentation of item usage to determine utilization rates, operating hours, wear, etc.
  • On-site data collection via mobile data collection devices, with additional collection at gates or in zones without the use of mobile devices.

TAGpilot Mobile Inventory

TAGpilot Mobile Inventory consists of a server-side and an MDE-side component: Inventory objects are centrally managed and inventory results are evaluated on the TAGpilot server. Inventory is conducted directly on the object using a mobile data collection device (MDE device) or, for zone transitions, using UHF-RFID gates, active RFID technology, or RTLS systems.

The TAGpilot server offers, among other things, the following central functions:

  • Management of master and condition data of inspection objects
  • Documentation of inventory activities and results
  • Visualization of object positions in areas or using GPS
  • Reconciliation of master and inventory data with back-end systems such as SAP

TAGpilot Mobile offers the following functions on MDE devices for inventory at the object:

  • Menu- and form-guided execution of individual inventory steps
  • Finding inventoried items via GPS coordinates or location tags
  • Support for various communication methods, both offline and online capable

The application "TAGpilot Mobile Inventory" is a sub-functionality of the application "TAGpilot Mobile Maintenance" and can of course also be used in combination.

Mobile inventory can also be combined with other applications, for example, for the inventory of containers in a container management system or vehicles in a vehicle management system.

TAGpilot Mobile Inventory allows you to perform more inventories in less time with higher quality while using fewer resources.
