Zone monitoring with ZOMOFI Active-RFID
Active RFID solutions are particularly interesting for applications with large detection ranges. Since October 1, 2012, our TAGnology Group has taken over the product group ZOMOFI from Albis Technologies AG in Zurich, Switzerland, thereby expanding our extensive product portfolio with this active RFID technology.
The ZOMOFI system has been integrated into our TAGpilot software for many years, allowing the location and status information from ZOMOFI tags to be fully utilized in TAGpilot processes. Status information detected by ZOMOFI and processed in TAGpilot includes movement, acceleration, spatial position, or temperature.
In the TAGpilot application "Object Monitoring", the ZOMOFI components are in use. Here, location and movement information is specifically used to protect valuable objects from unauthorized tampering. The main application areas are museums and art collections, where valuable items must be protected in addition to perimeter security.
Additional applications for ZOMOFI components include:
- Tunnel construction:
In tunnel construction, logistical bottlenecks repeatedly cause delays and increased costs. Knowing which people and tools are in which segment of a tunnel can optimize logistical processes and significantly enhance worker safety.
- Mining:
Similar to tunnel construction, the following questions are relevant in mining: Which people and objects are in which area of a mine? What is their condition?
- Warehouse logistics:
Automatically opening roller doors, etc., when an authorized person or vehicle approaches saves a lot of time in warehouse logistics and also increases security by preventing unauthorized access.
- Offshore applications:
Monitoring objects and people on offshore platforms to increase the efficiency of material usage and personnel safety can be implemented with ZOMOFI. Special explosion-proof solutions are provided for this purpose.
- Medical technology:
Locating medical equipment in hospitals saves time and costs for the staff.
- Security services:
Zone detection of security personnel allows for the automatic documentation of movement profiles or presences and also provides condition monitoring of personnel to enhance their safety.
- Detective agencies:
ZOMOFI supports the monitoring of valuable items similar to the object monitoring in museums. The advantage of ZOMOFI for this application is the fully concealed installation of hardware components and the modular design, allowing the solution to be quickly deployed in different locations.
